About

Heart Song

In Classical Chinese medicine, the heart is thought of as the ruler of our inner world. For the Heart to rule effectively, it must remain open and empty, so it may receive information and guidance from all realms. The Chinese word for heart (Xīn) is drawn as an empty bowl with three dots (心). Another way to see it is as one dot in motion, passing through this empty vessel. The image suggests the opportunity to stay open and present with each beat of our heart.

When we have the capacity to remain open and present, what emerges are our deepest personal truths our Hearts' Songs. Unique to every individual, and an expression of our authenticity and innate gifts. Constitutional Five Element Acupuncture strengthens the essence of who we are, and invites harmony within our in worlds and in our relationships with the world around us. This allows our gifts to emerge and to guide us on our unique paths with wisdom, peace, and integrity.

Jodi Lefkowitz L.Ac

Jodi has been a compassionate practitioner of acupuncture since 2021, using classical Five Element Acupuncture to provide thoughtful patient care, facilitate healing for physical and emotional ailments, and cultivate wellness. Jodi began her study of Chinese medicine almost a decade ago, studying Five Element philosophy at Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado while simultaneously earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Traditional Eastern arts and Yoga studies. At The Academy for Five Element Acupuncture in Gainesville, Florida, Jodi completed her Master’s of Acupuncture and a year long clinical internship. Subsequently Jodi attained board certification through the NCCAOM, and licensure in the state of North Carolina through the NCALB.

Throughout her years studying Chinese medicine, Jodi also found time to work in the mental health field, as a Residential Behavioral Coach, and Mentor to teenage students receiving care at multiple residential treatment centers. In her roles working with teenagers who struggled with mental health, addiction, and neurodivergent disorders, Jodi  provided stability for students, facilitated de-escalation in moments of challenge and crisis, and established consistency of presence and trust in order to uphold a therapeutic environment.

"My healing journey has led me to this work. As a wide eyed child with a deep and curious heart, the world and my experience of it at times was too much to bear without the tools to properly process all that I was taking in. This overwhelm began to color the way I moved through life, both mentally and physically. After leaving home as a young adult, role models and helpers began to emerge, showing me who and how I could be. The most impactful lesson that I learned was how to find who I was all along, and to nurture that seed to bloom. Empowered on my path, curiosity and depth became my greatest assets, and I learned that they could be harnessed to support others in discovering their own gifts and healing potential. I hope to share this opportunity with you!"

How do I book an appointment?

To book an appointment, simply click on the booking buttons located throughout our website or visit the dedicated Booking page. This will direct you to the AcuBliss patient portal, where you can create an account and schedule your appointment.

What to expect my first visit?

At your first appointment, we’ll begin with a thorough discussion for the first 30 minutes or so to understand your health history and needs. You’ll then get on the treatment table fully clothed; any necessary disrobing will be managed with your privacy in mind. I will assess your pulses and tongue as part of the diagnostic process, and you’ll receive your initial acupuncture treatment, which may include moxibustion, for the remaining hour.

How to prepare for my appointment?

To prepare for your appointment, please make sure you’ve had a meal on the day of your treatment. Wear loose-fitting clothing to make it easier for us to access treatment areas without needing to disrobe. Arriving a few minutes early is a good idea, especially if it’s your first visit, as our office can be a bit tricky to find. Lastly, don’t forget to complete any relevant paperwork before your visit.

How long does a treatment last?

A typical acupuncture treatment lasts about one hour. The initial consultation and first treatment together last 90 minutes. Additionally, a la carte adjunct treatments such as cupping, gua sha, moxibustion, and dry needling are available as standalone 30-minute sessions.

Is acupuncture safe?

Yes, acupuncture is generally considered safe when administered by a trained and licensed practitioner. The use of sterile needles and adherence to proper techniques minimizes the risk of side effects. To ensure a safe and effective treatment, please inform your practitioner of any medical conditions or medications you are currently taking.

What can I expect after my treatment?

After your acupuncture treatment, you might experience mild sensations such as soreness, relaxation, or a sense of increased energy. These effects are typically temporary and part of the body’s natural response to treatment. It's also common to feel a deep sense of relaxation. If you have any concerns or unusual symptoms, please reach out.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions needed varies depending on your specific condition and goals. Generally, chronic conditions may require a series of treatments to see sustained results, while acute symptoms might be alleviated with just one or a few sessions. It’s important to discuss your individual needs with me to create a tailored treatment plan. In Five Element Acupuncture, ongoing treatments are encouraged as a preventative measure. Regular visits, such as once per season, can help you stay attuned to nature and promote long-term well-being.

What is your cancellation policy?

If you cancel within 24 hours of your appointment or fail to show up, you will be required to pay the full appointment fee. This policy helps ensure that time is available for other patients who need it.

Do you accept insurance?

I do not currently accept insurance directly. However, I can provide a superbill that you can submit to your insurance provider for potential reimbursement.
